Southern New Mexico State Fair and Rodeo

On Saturday, October 3, 2009, The Delk Band had the pleasure of providing the music for the Saturday night rodeo dance following the final performance of the PRCA Turquoise Circuit Rodeo Finals held during the Southern New Mexico State Fair & Rodeo in Las Cruces, NM.  The dance was held in the open air Budweiser Pavillion on the SNMSF&R fairgrounds.

The band consisted of myself and sons Byron and Mark Delk, Bucky Allred, Dee Ford and Roy Garcia.  This event is the one time during the year that we are able to play through a large sound system with a sound tech running our sound.  Kenny Arroyos and his staff do a magnificent job and we really enjoy working with them.

Estimated attendance at the rodeo dance was 400 to 500 people and all came to dance.  A great time was had by all.
Additionally, I had the honor of playing the National Anthem during the opening ceremonies for the final performance of the Turquoise Circuit Rodeo Finals.  This was a first for me and I will certainly add this experience to my list of memorable things I’ve been able to do.
