The Delk Band

Hidalgo Cowboy Dinner and Dance

The 1st Annual Hidalgo Cowboy Dinner and Dance was just as I expected.  There were close to 300 people in attendance and they came from miles around to see their families, friends and neighbors, enjoy a good cowboy meal, listen to a few politicians and then get to dancin’.  Folks came from Tucson, Willcox, Elfrida, Douglas, Lordsburg, Redrock, Verdin, Silver City, Deming, Hachita, Las Cruces and even from Farmington.

It was great to see so many young rural families with their kids.   There must have been fifty kids under ten years of age.

We were also honored to have our Congressman, Steve Pearce, join us and share his vision for the future.  He certainly has the support of The Delk Band in his bid to return to Congress.

We want to thank Judy Keeler and all the local folks who helped her get everything together.  It was heartwarming to see the support she had from everyone in the Animas community.

All in all it was a great night.  Everyone had a good time and I trust all made it home safe and sound. We are already looking forward to the 2nd Annual Hidalgo County Cowboy Dinner and Dance in September, 2010.
