Bucky’s Birthday Bash

Saturday June 11, 2011
Glenwood, NM

Bucky’s Birthday Bash was held in Glenwood, NM on Saturday, June 11, 2011.  Bucky is now something north of fifty….but who’s counting?  This was a fundraising effort to raise money for the Gila Livestock Grower’s Association and the Americans for Preserving Western Environment in Catron County as they fight to end the Mexican Wolf Reintroduction Program.

This year we had the huge Wallow Fire burning out of control only 50 miles from Glenwood but we did have good cause for rejoicing as well.  On Thursday, June 9, the New Mexico Game Commission voted unanimously to withdraw New Mexico’s involvement in the  Mexican Wolf Reintroduction Program.

There are two employees with New Mexico Department of Game and Fish whose time is dedicated to the wolf recovery program.  Their salaries and other expenses are covered by funds taken from the pool of money generated from hunting and fishing license fees in the State of New Mexico.  Now, those monies can be directed to more productive areas.

Anyway, over 300 people were in attendance and we danced from 7:30 til midnight.  Jim Tomlinson, Dee Ford, Cheryl Allsup, Tucker Looney, Ty Martin, Byron Delk, Joe and Bucky provided the music and all had a great time.

Mark was not able to join us as he was working to prepare for his electrical contractor’s licensing test.

See you in Weed, NM on August 20, 2011.
